The 2nd International Tournament Isthmia is organized by the PNEVMATIKI STEGI PERISTERIOU, Korinthia Chess Academy “Argonaftis”, Prefecture of Peloponnisos and Municipality of Velo Vocha on 18-25th August at the "ALKYON" Hotel, Vrachati, Korinthia.
TOURNAMENT SYSTEM: 9 round Swiss system with FIDE rating, in three groups. All FIDE and Greek Chess Federation regulations apply.
Group A: players with FIDE rating >2000
Group B: players with FIDE rating <1900
Group C: unrated players
Players rated 1900 – 2000 may select in which group they will participate.
The organizers reserve the right to merge the three groups, depending on the number of participants.
The 1st International Tournament Isthmia was held last August.

TIME CONTROL: 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes until the end of the game, plus 30 seconds per move from move 1, for each player. Recording of the moves is compulsory for the entire duration of the game.
TIE-BREAKS: To resolve possible tie-breaks the following criteria will be applied:
a) The results of the tied players with each other (only if all tied players have played each other).
b) Bucholz
c) Bucholz Median
d) Performance (international rating – national rating).
POSTPONEMENTS: Postponement of a game is generally not allowed. Exceptions may be made under special circumstances, after a timely request of the interested party and a justified decision of the Tournament Director.
ENTRY FEE: The entry fee is set at 50€ for those accommodated at the tournament hotel, 70€ for those accommodated elsewhere and 40€ for players <18 years old. Entry fees must be paid at the tournament hall before the start of the 1st round.
Special Categories:
a) under 18 (boy & girl), b) under 16 (boy & girl), c) under 12 (boy & girl), d) female players.
There must be at least 5 eligible participants in order to form a special category.
CASH PRIZES:
The cash prizes to be awarded to the winners of the tournament are, in euros (€):GROUP A
1st winner 3000
2nd winner 1500
3rd winner 1000
4th winner 500
5th winner 400
6th winner 300
7th winner 200
8th winner 100
Cash prizes are awarded according to the final standings, after tie-break criteria have been applied, and are not split between tied players.
Players receive all cash prizes they are entitled to.

SIDE EVENTS: Individual blitz tournament, simultaneous exhibition and excursion to archeological sites of Ancient Greece. All these will be announced in additional regulations.
GENERAL: The Tournament Director is responsible for decisions on any matter not covered by these regulations.
