GM Gonda Laszlo (HUN) former silver and bronze medallist at World Youth events convincingly won the GM group showing up deep strategic play. The average rating was 2474 that meant a 7 point GM requirement which proved to be far too much for the relatively inexperienced young candidates.

The IM group brought sharp fight of different generations. FM Gledura Benjamin (13, HUN) who is an U 12 Youth European Champion and FM Kantor Gergely (13, HUN) silver medallist of the HUN U20 Championship were really competitive opponents of all experienced IM-s. Six IM gave high quality level for the field.

The rating section delivered an outstanding success for Farkas Richard (15, HUN). He enjoys competing only but working on seriously, learning with a qualified coach could be the key for further achievements. Another bright spot of the event was Gal Hanna Krisztina (14, HUN) the only female participant who won 26 rating points against strong male opponents.

The tournaments were held in the MEDOSZ Hotel Budapest which will also be housing the Budapest Spring Festival 9 round Swiss from 26th March while the next First Saturday series at the same venue are scheduled at 7-17th April.
