chess newsThe 21st Annual Eastern Class Championships will take place from March 2-4, 2012, at the Host Hotel at Cedar Lake, Sturbridge, Massachusetts. The event has a $18,000 projected prize fund with $12,000 guaranteed.

The event has 7 sections: Master, Expert, Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D and Class E. All sections are 5 round Swiss tournaments having 3-day and 2-day schedules to play in.

Prizes:
Master (2200/up): $1700-1000-500-300, clear winner or 1st on tiebreak $100 bonus, top U2300 $800-400. FIDE rated.
Expert (2000-2199): $1400-700-400-200.
Class A (1800-1999): $1400-700-400-200.
Class B (1600-1799): $1400-700-400-200.
Class C (1400-1599): $1200-600-300-200.
Class D (1200-1399): $1000-500-300-200.
Class E (Under 1200): $400-200-120-80, trophies to top U1000, U800, U600, Unrated.

Sturbridge is home to Old Sturbridge Village living history museum which re-creates life in rural New England during the 1790s through 1830s.
