Arab games. Team championship has started! |

The 12th Arab Games 2011 take place from December 9th to 23, 2011 in Doha (Qatar). On 13th of December the team chess championship among women and men started. 63 players from 13 countries will take part in men section and 40 players from 9 countries will struggle for medals in women section. Famous GMs Adly Ahmed and Amin Bassem from Egypt, Qatari Al-Modiahki Mohamad, Al-Sayed Mohammed and Zhu Chen, Salem A R Saleh from UAE are taking part in the event.
Men tournament. In the first round Egyptian and Qatari teams, placed first and second in the team-starting rank, unexpectedly made draws (2:2) with teams from Iraq and Yemen accordingly. Morocco, Jordan, Algeria and Emirates teams managed to win the matches in the first round. Algeria won the match against Palestine with absolute score and placed first among the winners in the first round.
Women tournament. Algerian team got leading position in women section as well after defeating the team from Jordan with 3:1 score. Morocco won against Emirates and placed second. Two other matches Iraq-Qatar and Palestine-Lybia were drawn.
