Supported by his chess-enthusiast mother an 18 year old young man Illingworth Max (AUS) achieved his first GM norm defeating all his three GM-opponents. His computer was broken down so he was considering not to start at all but his decision to stay and play proved to be right. Hard training days with his home coach GM Ian Rogers (AUS) and the useful lessons taken from IM Laszlo Hazai (HUN) during the tournament yielded well enough. The young man is planning to study economics at Sydney University but first a chess-dream he intends to fulfill by reaching the prestigious GM title.
