Regulations
1) The Tournament is open to all players. Valid for FIDE and FEDA ratings and international norms.
2) Dates: 8 to 16 October 2011
3) System of Play: 9-round Swiss Tournament.
Players can choose between two groups with a different schedule for the 6 first rounds:
- Daily Group: Swiss System, one round each day from 8 to 13 October.
- Weekend Group: Swiss System with double rounds on 8, 9 and 12 October.
Rounds 7, 8 and 9 will be common for both groups, making up only one final group for these rounds and the final standings (14, 15 and 16 October).

5) Playing Venue:

6) Rate of Play: 90 minutes to finish + 30 seconds per move
7) Tie-Breaks:
1º Brazilian Buchholz / Median Buchholz / Total Buchholz / Performance The concrete order will be drawn at the end of the Tournament 5º Result against each other 6º Drawing ** For the calculation of Buchholz the non-played games will be considered as draw **
8) Special Categories:
Veterans – born in 1951 or before Youngsters –born in 1993 or later Under 16 – born in 1995 or later Under 14– born in 1997 or later Under 12– born in 1999 or later Women
*** Age will be verified by means of official documentation *** FIDE ELO list of 1 September 2011 will be used for the rating prizes *** No prizes will be given for categories with less than 4 players 9) Players can take a maximum of 3 BYES (rest rounds of 0.5 points). BYES are only possible for the FIRST SIX ROUNDS and should be requested in a written form before the end of the 1st round
Players inscribed after the deadline will be provided with one out of these three byes for the first round.
10) Agreement for a draw in less than 30 moves is not allowed for players with more than 50% of the points.
11) 60 minutes waiting shall be applied for default wins.
12) A player with two default losses will be expelled from the Tournament. First round defaults could also mean a player forfeit.
13) Entry fee should be paid before the beginning of the 1st round; otherwise, participation won’t be allowed.
14) Every player should confirm his/her correct registration in the Tournament. Both group rankings will be published on 7th October. The organizers can refuse to register players.
15) Registration in the Tournament involves the acceptation of these Regulations. Rules and recommendations for FIDE tournaments will be applied by subsidiary.

- Registration Deadline: 6 October at 21:00
- Later registrations: Registration after the deadline but before the beginning of the Tournament will mean a rest day (BYE) for the first round.

Specify the name of the player.
- Entry fee can be paid at the venue until 1 hour before the beginning of the 1st round, with an additional charge of 10 euros.
ABOUT THE PRIZES
Prizes are subject to deductions in accordance with current legislation.
Prizes are not cumulative, with the exception of Special Prize Óliver González Somoza. If a player wishes to opt for this Special Prize, he/she must deliver an analysis of his/her combination before the last round. The organizers will assign a jury to award this Special Prize.

Buses from Madrid (http://www.ctm-madrid.es/).- Lines 480, 484 and 485 have a stop at the entrance of “Parque Tecnológico”; these lines also have connections with suburban train and underground network.
