The 1st Qin Huangdao Open Chess Tournament will be held in Qin Huangdao, Hebei, China from 30 September to 7 October 2011.

Organizers: Board and Card Games Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and Chinese Chess Association.

Host: Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau, Qin Huangdao Municipal People's Government.

Co-organizer: Board and Card Games Administrative Center of Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau, Qin Huangdao Qiyuan, Hebei Yi Jia Hong Shun Co., Ltd.

Participating Unit

Players and Referees

Players from the affiliated national federation of World Chess Federation are entitled to participate in the tournament.

Arbiters and members of Appeals Committee are appointed by Board and Card Games Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China. According to tournament requirement, assistants are appointed by Qin Huangdao Sports Bureau and Qin Huangdao Qiyuan.  

Tournament Regulations:

1.The latest FIDE regulations shall be observed. ELO rating shall be calculated. The players can apply for titles.

2. The tournament will be played over 9 rounds with Swiss system; 90'/end + 30'' increment per move, starting from move 1.

3. Competition Format:

(1) Open Section: Players beyond 2200 will participate in open section. Age and gender are unlimited.

(2)Amateur Section: Players below 2200 or who do not have ELO rating will participate in amateur section which will be divided into groups as follows according to ages and in which men category and women category are opened up:

Group A: Players who were born before 31st, Dec, 1996

Group B: Players who were born between 1st, Jan, 1997 and 31st, Dec, 1998

Group C: Players who were born between 1st, Jan, 1999 and 31st, Dec, 2000

Group D: Players who were born between 1st, Jan, 2001 and 31st, Dec, 2002

Group E: Players who were born between 1st, Jan, 2003 and 31st, Dec, 2004

Group F: Players who were born between 1st, Jan, 2005 and 31st, Dec, 2006

     

Participation Fee

1. Entry fee

(1)Open Section: No entry fee should be paid by men/women grandmasters and international masters. An entry fee of 50 US Dollar or equivalent Ren Minbi(Chinese Yuan) is asked for other players.

(2)Amateur Section: An entry fee of 25 US Dollar or equivalent Ren Minbi(Chinese Yuan) is asked for every player.

2. Accommodation fee

(1) Open Section: According to the registration sequence, organizer will provide free full accommodations to the first 50 men/women grandmasters; Other Men/women grandmasters and the first 50 international masters registered in sequence should pay 40 US Dollar or equivalent Ren Minbi(Chinese Yuan) for the full accommodations each day per person; other players should pay 80 US Dollars or equivalent Ren Minbi(Chinese Yuan) for the full accommodations each day per person. Grandmasters  beyond 2650 will be provided with single room.

(2) Amateur Section: Players should pay 25 US Dollars or equivalent Ren Minbi(Chinese Yuan) for the full accommodations each day per person.

3. Travel fee

All players should pay the travel expense on their own. If anyone needs the airport transfer or tickets booking service please contact organizer in advance.


Ranking and Awards:

Certificate and prize money will be awarded to the top 32 places in open  section, top 16 Places in women category in open section and top 16 places in each group in amateur section. Trophy will be given to the top 3 places in each section.

The following is the detailed list of prize for each place in each section(Unit: US Dollar, not including tax. The total prize fund is 87,000 US Dollar): please note that players cannot get the prize for open section and women category in open section at the same time.

Information about Registration, Visa and the Deadline for Registration

The deadline for registration is 15th, Sep, 2011. Organizer reserves the right to accept or refuse late registration.

Other activities

To expand the influence and coverage of this tournament, organizer will make full use of the valuable opportunity that players from countries around the world will participate in this international tournament in Qin Huangdao to invite 12 grandmasters to play simultaneous games with the players in amateur team in 6 nights(12 grandmasters from 12 countries, 1 player from each).
