Preparations are underway as the Curaçao Chess Players Foundation sets out in organizing yet another edition of it's international chess tournament Curaçao Chess Festival. Kicking off in 2001 with a fresh format for the international chess tournaments organized since 1993, Curaçao Chess Festival is to be considered more than just simply a tournament.
This year's tournament is themed "chessing in country Curaçao" referring to enjoying chess on the island of Curaçao in its newly constitutional status as it no longer forms part of the formerly grouped islands known as the Netherlands Antilles.
Grandmaster Loek van Wely is leading the field. The tournament takes place from 22nd to 31st July, with 26th July being reserved for the beach picnic & BBQ.
