The new Amsterdam international summer chess tournament was held from 9th to 17th July, at the brand new sports centre Universum.
There were four different playing groups: Group A - Rated more than 2050, first prize € 3000 Group B - 1800-2100, first prize € 800 Group C - 1550-1850, first prize € 500 Group D - Lower than 1600, first prize € 250
Dusan Popovic, Roeland Pruijssers, Alexandr Lenderman, Nikola Sedlak and Baskaran Adhiban are the winners of the first Science Park Amsterdam Chess Tournament. The international company earned 7 points from 9 games and received € 1.340 each.
GM Dusan Popovic, who recovered after the kidney transplantation, was declared winner on superior tiebreak. The sponsor, Science Park Amsterdam, announced during the award ceremony that the tournament will be organized again in 2012!
Roeland Pruijssers earned his third and final Grandmaster norm and Matthew Tan scored his second IM norm.
