The Netherlands Chess Championships are taking place from 26th June to 5th July. Men's Championship is a 10-player round robin while six women will compete in a double-round robin event.

GM Jan Smeets is defending the title, while the 2009 champion GM Anish Giri is top seeded player. Six-times champion Loek Van Wely is not participating.

GM Zhaoqin Peng (2375) is defending the women's title, which she has been winning for a record 11 straight years.

After five rounds of play, GM Wouter Spoelman 2564 is leading the rankings with 4 points. Top seed Anish Giri and lowest rated player in the field, Robin Swinkels, are half a point behind.

In the women's event GM Zhaoqin Peng is leading with perfect score after the first leg. Live games are available daily on the official website.
