The 3rd Edition of III Leon World Chess Open will take place this year in Leon.
Events
1) III World Chess Open 2) I Champions League 3) III Master Lecture
Dates: December 17-18. Saturday 17, from 16h to 21h and Sunday 18. Closing ceremony will start at 14h.
Prizes: around 22000€. Prizes for amateur players and ELO categories are similar to previous years and Sub-18 category prizes have been increased. This year 2011 there is an interesting novelty, the "I CHAMPIONS LEAGUE" that will be holding on Friday 16 from 16.30 in the afternoon.
4 players: Ljubojevic (Serbia), Hubner (Germany), Sax (Hungary), Seirawan (USA) or Hort (Germany). Reserve player: Borisov Ivkov, first Junior World Champion.
A single round robin where all participants of the World Open are invited to come. If a tie will occur, 2 rapid games at 7 minutes per player would decide the winner.
Note: Legends will also take part in the main open competition (III Leon World Open).
On Thursday 15 December, there will be other interesting event (at 19.30h.): Master lecture by Serbian GM, settled in Linares (Jaen, Spain), Ljubomir Ljubojevic, who has played in the golden ages of chess together with three of the best players of the Chess history, Fischer, Karpov and Kasparov. He will tell us many stories about his brilliant chess career and his games against these three great champions.

The chess venue (Estadio Hispánico, near the bullring) has only place for 300 participants so registrations will be accepted by rigorously order of submission.
