CEZ Chess Trophy 2011 was held from 12th to 19th June in Prague and featured a number of attractive events.
The main guest of the festival was the World Champion Viswanathan Anand, who played a simul (Anand scored 25:1, he lost against Petr Boleslav) and made the ceremonial 1st move at the start of the match between David Navara and Sergei Movsesian.
The match between Navara and Movsesian consisted of six classical games (90 min for 40 moves, 30 min till the end, increment 30s per move, rated by FIDE) and David Navara won by a narrow margin 3,5-2,5.
There have been a number of lectures given by the legendary Grandmasters Lubomir Kavalek and Vlastimil Hort, and famous study composer Yochanan Afek, additional simul given by GM Jan Smejkal, and exhibition of postage stamps with chess motives. Another exhibition presented photos of famous chess player visiting in Prague - Vera Mencik and Alexander Alekhine during Olympiad 1931, Paul Keres and Klaus Junge during the tournament in 1943, Vasily Smyslov and David Bronstain during the match Prague - Moscow 1946 etc.
