The 2011 edition of the Bazna Grand Slam is taking place June 11-21 at the Natural Gas Documentation and Information Centre in Medias, Romania. Participants are Magnus Carlsen, Vassily Ivanchuk, Hikaru Nakamura, Teimour Radjabov, Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu, and Sergey Karjakin and the tournament is double round robin. Magnus Carlsen defeated Hikaru Nakamura and Vassily Ivanchuk defeated Teimour Radjabov at the start of the event. In the second round Nakamura quickly bounced back with a victory against Nisipeanu, while Radjabov achieved a stable draw with Karjakin. In the round 2 derby Ivanchuk and Carlsen divided the point.
