XXVII Haryana State Open Chess Championship 2011 will be organized by Distt. Chess Association Sirsa on behalf of the Haryana Chess Association from May. 20 to 22, 2011 at Lord Shiva College of Pharmecy, Sirsa. This tournament is organized in the memory of of Sh. Sukhbir Singh Jain Advocate by the organizers.
Hony Secretary of the Haryana Chess Association Pradeep Gupta told here that Opening of the Tournament will be held at 12 p.m. of 20th May and Prize Distribution Function at 4.30 p.m. of 22th May. 2011 at the venue.
Players from all over the Haryana will participate in this Championship. And the Team for Haryana will be selected from the top 4 players of this Championship for the forthcoming 49th National Challengers’ (National ‘B’) Chess Championship to be held at Aurangabad from 15 June. to 26 June, 2011. Top 8 Districts for the forthcoming Haryana Sports Festival, which is conducted by Haryana Olympic Association, will also be selected from this Championship.
Organizing Secretary of the Tournament Advocate A. S. Kalra told that there will be a total cash prize fund of approximately Rs. 29,000/- in this championship, which will be distributed among the winners. First Prize will be of Cash Rs. 5100/- . There will be a separate prize fund of Rs. 10,100/- for the Under -16 age group players also.
Tentatively 7 Rounds will be played in this Championship under the FIDE Laws of the Chess. A normal entry fee of Rs. 200/- will be charged from the participants in this Championship.
