The Mauritanian Chess Championships ended Saturday 2nd of April with Mostapha Ould Ekkar crowned as National Champion and Ahmed Ould Abdallahi as Champion under 16.

Both Champions will have the honour to represent Mauritania in the 2011 international competitions. At the closure ceremony, Zeydane Ould Baba, Sports Director at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, has declared his satisfaction regarding the conditions that prevailed during the Championships and congratulated the participants for their contribution to Chess development.
On his turn, Ali Moktar Kreikid, Secretary General of the Mauritanian Chess Federation, has underlined the importance of Chess from the cultural and scientific point of view, a fact that has resulted in some countries to its teaching in schools.
He added that the Event has allowed detecting "geniuses" among school children who should get help to blossom.
At the end the closing ceremony, cups, prices and attests were distributed to the participants and to those who contributed to the organization of the Championships.
