Bach Matthias gave lessons at the 27th Budapest Spring Festival

An experienced chess coach from Hamburg, FM Bach Matthias (GER) gave free lessons but this time to his opponents at the traditional event which is organized every springtime in Budapest. He proved extraordinary skills in endgames and also in middle-game strategy and it helped him to victory ahead of six IM-s and many talented young.

Budapest

KÁNTOR, Gergely (HUN), IO NAGY, Laszlo (HUN), FM BACH, Matthias (GER), IM TÓTH, Ervin (HUN). Photo made by SZABÓ, Miklós. The event itself held all the characters of a good open tournament. There were 66 participants representing 9 countries (CHN, FRA, GER, HUN, IRL, ITA, NOR, SIN, VIE). 13 title holders with 21 foreign players and six women players made the field colourful and interesting. The youngest participants benefitted from the event the most.
12 years old Kantor Gergely (HUN) won the imaginary bronze medal and he played on the first board many times. He won as much as 40 FIDE-Rating points so his coach IM Miklos Galyas (HUN) and his parents present at all rounds could be reasonably proud of him.

Two 13 year old players could win even more FIDE-Rating points. A little boy from Singapore Lee Kai Jie Edward and a little girl, Shan He Jie Rita (HUN) both won over 50 points.
