27th Cappelle-la-Grande Open Print

The 27th Cappelle-la-Grande Open is organized by the "L'Echiquier Cappellois" chess club and takes place from 26th February to 5th March at the Palais des Arts in Cappelle-la-Grande. 568 players participate in one of the world's biggest open tournaments.

Cappelle-la-Grande is a small town of  8000 inhabitants in the northeast of France, near to the North Sea. It is part of the Urban Community of Dunkerque, an industrial and commercial port with residential areas housing more than 200,000 inhabitants.

After five rounds of play Croatian Grandmaster Alojzije Jankovic is leading the standings with perfect score, closely followed by GM Manuel Leon Hoyos of Mexico who is half a point behind. There follows a large tie of players with 4 points each.

The games are starting daily at 14:00 CET, except the last round which is moved to morning 10:00 CET. Follow the action live on the official website.
