As part of its Centenary celebrations, the National Autonomous University of Mexico has organized an event that will constitute a unique and memorable experience for participants. A stroll through the wonderful and amazing world of chess will bring us together with some of the most important world experts who have come to Mexico at this time. The aim is to promote the practice of chess through numerous activities, including recreation, competition, debate, culture and artistic creativity, directed not only towards university spectators or chess experts, but also towards the general public. There will be nine days of intense activity that will convert the University Campus into a huge battlefield, where National and International Grandmasters and World Champions will play against amateur players in selective and open tournaments. The program will include scenic activities; concerts, films, exhibitions, workshops, competitions, tributes, multimedia shows and seminars; all related to chess with its many facets and expressions. These will take place in the various forums and scenarios of the University Cultural Center as well as in outdoor spaces, where everyone will have free access. Thus the UNAM, a host of intelligence and knowledge par excellence will offer an unforgettable tribute to the genius and talent of this sacred discipline. The Chess Festival will contribute to the possibility that this discipline will be included as an educational subject in the curriculum from the lowest level, in both public and private schools, as it is an essential tool for improving the cognitive level of attention, concentration and memory among children and young people.
