GM Neelotpal Das our chief guest from India showed up a great fighting spirit but could win the GM tournament only in tie with two talented young Hungarian players.

Antal Gergely (HUN) and Banusz Tamas (HUN) both made their third clear GM norms so the Grandmaster Title will be awarded for them soon. Neither achievement could surprise us since they both can boast with outstanding international success already. Antal Gergely (25), University Champion of USA (2009) and gold medallist in U18 European Team Championship as early as 2003. Currently he plays for BEAC which is the team of Universities of Budapest. He is a brilliant tactician.

Banusz Tamas (21), gold medallist at U16 World Youth Olympiad (TUR 2003), also won gold at European Youth Team Ch (SRB 2007) best scorer of Europe by 5.5/6 points. He is a member of Pannonpower Chess Club at Pecs city which is currently holding the proud title of the Capital of Culture in Europe. His style rationally combines both positional and tactical elements but his technical skills is the most outstanding part of his feature.

There were two IM sections with 10 players each.

Antipov Mikhail Al. is a little boy from Moscow as young as 13 came first making IM-norm in the stronger IM-A section. It was his second appearance in Budapest at First Saturday that has served as a school for so many talented young. First time like many others prior to him he could realise that one can only be successful with taking serious studies and coaching. Now he won seven games and was half a point over the IM-requirements delivering 2550 TPR.
