Gelfand wins the rapid match against Leko Print
Monday, 30 August 2010 03:03
Hungarian top Grandmaster Péter Lékó and 2009 World Cup winner Boris Gelfand from Israel played an 8-games rapid match from 25th to 29th August in Miskolc, Hungary. This was the sixth annual match organized at the National Theater of Miskolc. Leko's earlier opponents were Michael Adams, Anatoly Karpov, Magnus Carlsen, Vladimir Kramnik and World Champion Vishy Anand.

After the incredibly interesting theoretical discussion in the Moscow variation of the Semi-Slav opening, which might be renamed to Miskolc variation, Gelfand eventually won the match with the score 4.5-3.5.
