Abu Dhabi Chess Festival Print

chess newsThe Armed Forces Officers Club, in Co-Operation with Abu Dhabi Chess & Culture Club, organized the annual Abu Dhabi Chess Festival 2010 from 12 till 20th August 2010, at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The Festival consisted of four separate tournaments, all played over nine rounds according to Swiss system:
- Master Tournament for players with rating higher than 2200 (prize fund 15,900 USD)
- Open Tournament for players rated under 2200 (prize fund 3,100 USD)
- Ladies Tournament Open for women chess players (prize fund 2,600 USD)
- Junior Tournament Open for players under 14 years (prize fund 1,700 USD)

Grandmaster Anton Korobov held the main competitor GM Zurab Sturua to a draw in the last round of the Master Tournament and earned a clear first place with the sum of 6.5 points.

GM Zurab Sturua and GM Sarhan Guliev shared the second with 6.0 points each.
