Yinzhou Cup the 7th China-Russia Chess Match has just began at Ningbo New Century Grand Hotel, China from August 5, top level grandmasters such as Malakhov Vladimir (2732), Vitiugov Nikita (2722), Wang Hao (2724), Wang Yue (2716) participate in this event.

On the first round men’s competition, Wang Hao(2724) draws with Malakhov(2732) in an even balance double rooks endgame, and Wang Yue (2716) takes a critical winning point from Potkin Vladimir (2626). Captain Ni Hua (2645) had some tough hours defending his position verus Timofeev Artem (2690). The game ends as a solo queen verus rook plus one pawn and Ni Hua successfully defended his half point, helping Chinese men team won with 3-2 score.

However, this is not a pretty lucky day for Chinese women chess team. Suffering by a consecutive loss by WGM Huang Qian (2447) and WGM Tan Zhongyi (2461), Russian team takes a big advantage from start. Even though top seed player WGM Ju Wenjun (2496) gains point back from IM Kosintseva Nadezda (2551), a further loss from Ding Yixin (2385) makes the final score to 1.5-3.5 and Russia women team triumphs.

The 2010 China-Russia chess match contains 5 round standard games and quad round-robin rapid games. This tournament will last from Aug 5-Aug 15 with a break day on Aug 10.
