IM Balog, Imre (HUN, 2nd GM-norm)
Balog Imre a 19 year old Hungarian schoolboy brought his second GM-norm within two months. He was also successful in the National team Ch. that finished less than a month earlier.
His victory was convincing with his style combining both positional and tactical elements.
The brightest spot of the event however was the participation of WGM Nadig Kruttika (IND) who was tough opponents for every man. One spectator asked how we could manage to
have Miss India to Budapest.
WGM Nadig, Kruttika (IND, 2236)
IM-A:
Gretarsson, Hjorvar Steinn ( ISL)
A mild and silent 17 year old boy Gretarsson Hjorvar Steinn (ISL) from the country of ice and volcano came first missing the IM norm with only half a point. FM Iwamoto Takashi (USA)
son of an other faraway island followed him with a strong finish. Both of them showed up not only good play but high standard of sportsmanship.
