The 2010 China Chess Championships were held from 24th May to 4th June 2010 in Xinghua, Jiangsu Province. Both competitions were 12-player round-robins, with 11 rounds of play and time control of 90min +30sec per move.
In the extremely exciting finish of the men's championship, three players shared the first place, but the top seeded Hao Wang was declared winner on best additional criteria - individual score against players tied on the same position. Key game was GM Zhou Jianchao - GM Wang Hao 0 - 1 from round eight.
Ju Wenjun took the pole position from the very beginning of the women's championship and maintained the lead through the competition to deservingly win the title of national champion. She could even afford the luxury of losing the last game against bronze medalist Tan Zhongyi, but still remained first with 8.0 points.
