BCF Receives Overwhelming Response to Caribbean Chess Sub Zonal 2010 Print

The Bahamas Chess Federation (BCF) is preparing for a large turnout of participants in the upcoming Caribbean Chess Sub Zonal scheduled to be held in Nassau, Bahamas from June 25 to July 1 this year. Already the total entries of 34 players for this year's tournament have almost tripled the number of the 2008 entries of 12 players.

From the list of 15 regional countries invited, 11 have responded and submitted registration information. The 10 countries are Aruba, The Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. Not only is the response to the tournament impressive, the playing strength of the registered players will provide the participants with ample opportunity to earn a FIDE title. Among the registered players are 1 Woman Grandmaster, 3 International Masters, 7 Fide Masters and 2 Candidate Masters.
