The President's Cup, dedicated to the memory of Heydar Aliyev, the 3rd President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is taking place place from 29th April to 3rd May in Baku.

Former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik leads the field of eight players who compete in rapid and blitz play, and on the final day host simultaneous exhibitions along the Baku seaside.

The round-robin rapid tournament concluded on 1st May. Three players shared the first place with 5.0 points each, but Vladimir Kramnik was declared winner on best additional criteria.

Final standings (rapid):
1-3. Vladimir Kramnik (RUS), Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (AZE) and Gata Kamsky (USA) - 5.0
4. Teimour Radjabov (AZE) - 3.5
5-6. Emil Sutovsky (ISR) and Judith Polgar (HUN) - 3.0
7. Rauf Mamedov (AZE) - 2.0
8. Gadir Guseinov (AZE) - 1.5
