Wednesday, 17 March 2010 08:00
first_saturday_logo

American, African, Asian players clashed Europeans this month from the following 13 countries: CAN, CHN, DEN, ENG, HUN, IND, ISR, JPN, NIG, SVK, UKR, USA, VIE. The first appearance of Nigerian players made this event unique. Both of them were equal opponents even for the best players of their respective groups. Olape Bunmi played in the GM section and was able to win a game and drew twice having tough clash in each game. Agu Uche achieved his first FIDE rating and was also able to win a game drawing three times besides missing a handful of positions close to victory.
GM Group:
GONDA Laszlo a 21 years old Hungarian IM performed his second GM-norm playing in solid and firm positional style. His opening portfolio seems to be thoroughly worked out. He is particularly strong in endgames. He is former silver medallist of U12 World Ch. 2000 in(ESP) and bronze medallist of U14 a year later.

FM-A:
Three unrated players were fighting against nine rated. Gumanny Evgeny (ISR) won the group and achieved high TPR so his first rating will be well over the average of his opponents. The other two unrated players below fifty percent also achieved their goals.

FM-B:
Lower rated players also have an opportunity each month. Usually primary school students clash adults. The age difference between the oldest and youngest is always around as much as seventy though no difference can be seen in their enthusiastic play.
