The 42nd International Women Chess Tournament is taking place on 3-12th March in Belgrade. One of the longest running chess tournaments in the world, established back in 1965, is celebrating 8th March - International Women's Day.
The 10-player tournament is being played as round robin over nine rounds. After six games, the experienced WGM Margarita Vojska from Bulgaria and Serbian junior champion WFM Jovana Erić are leading the race with 4.5 points each. Last year champion WGM Ana Benderać is close behind, while the veteran WIM Marija Petrović is doing extremely well with 3.5 points.
