 The Reykjavik Open 2010, with a respectable number of 104 participants, is taking place on 24th February - 3rd March. GM Ivan Sokolov is surging forward after an earlier unpleasent defeat against the Danish IM Thorbjorn Bromann. In the sixth round, Sokolov beat the top-seeded GM Vladimir Baklan with white pieces and is currently sharing the first place with 5.0 points.
GM Yuriy Kuzubov and GM Normunds Miezis defetead International Masters Bromann and Thorfinnsson respectively, and joined Sokolov on the top of the crosstable. Indian girls IM Harika Dronavalli and WGM Karavade Eesha scored draws against higher rated Grandmasters Stefansson and Dreev and are in the group of players who are only half a point behind.
