Farid Abbasov Wins Caspian Cup |

The 8th International Caspian Cup Chess Tournament, under management of the Gilan Chess Association, took place on 11-18th February in Rash, Iran. Azeri Grandmaster Azer Mirzoev held the helm for the better part of the tournament, but in the end he had to accept the shared first place, together with his compatriot GM Farid Abbasov and the local IM Toufighi Homayoon. Farid Abbasov was declared the winner on the best additional criteria.
The top last round games finished in draws, and did not disturb the equilibrium among the leaders. Only Georgian IM Davit Benidze won a game to sneak in to the shared 4th place.
