Romanian Chess Championships 2010

The Romanian Chess Championship was held between 30 January and 7 February 2010 in the mountain resort of Olanesti with 145 players (men) - 8 GM and 40 players (women) - 5 WGM. The new national champions are WGM Elena-Luminita Cosma and GM Constantin Lupulescu. It is interesting to know that WGM Cosma won her previous title 18 years ago, in 1992! The total prize fund of 30.000 lei (about 7.000 Euro) marks a record and it was offered by the club of WGM Elisabeta Polihroniade, co-organizer of the tournament.
