The 69th Georgian Men's Chess Championship was held on 11-24th January in Tbilisi. After the exhausting struggle in all-play-all 13 rounds tournament, Grandmasters Merab Gagunashvili and Tamaz Gelashvili shared the first place with 9.0 points each. There is no confirmation whether a tiebreak was included or the players equally split the honours.

Georgian best player Baadur Jobava did not participate, while the top-seeded GM Tornike Sanikidze withdrew from the tournament after the 11th round.
