Sweden's strongest open tournament, the 39th Rilton Cup, is taking place from 27th December 2009 until 5th January 2010. Three competitions, Rilton Cup, Rilton ELO and Rilton Open, have gathered a total of 197 participants.
GM Rozentalis Eduardas (LTU 2611), GM Ulibin Mikhail (RUS 2548), GM Ivanov Sergey (RUS 2530), GM Handke Florian (GER 2513), GM Åkesson Ralf (SWE 2454) and IM Richter Michael (GER 2412) are leading the field with two wins in the first two rounds.
Top seeded players, Radoslaw Wojtaszek from Poland, who was also a winner of the previous two editions of Rilton Cup, and Luke McShane from England, were held to draws by IM Arnd Lauber and GM Aleksandr Shimanov respectively.
