The 6th Open International de Vandoeuvre was held on 19-23rd December at Salle des Fêtes de Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy. The event gathered 154 participants who competed in two rating groups. After nine rounds of play, two top-seeded players GM Boris Grachev and Vladimir Epishin, both from Russia, and IM Thorsten Michael Haub from Germany shared the first place with 6.5 points each. IM Haub was declared the champion on the best tiebreak score and he doubled the celebration by bagging a GM norm.
