India had a remarkable performance at the Asian Schools Chess Championship 2009 held 16th to 23rd December at the Ceylon Continental Hotel in Colombo. Sri Lanka won two Gold medals in the under 13 and 15 Girls, Iran won the under 7 Girls while all other medals were won by the 13 member Indian team.
The tournament was organized in a grand scale by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation and FIDE, at this nice venue giving the highest 5-star standard of facilities to the young participating players from Iran, India, Malaysia, Australia and Yemen.
