With the vision of Chess Federation for bringing International Chess Events to all parts of the country, we have decided to hold the 1st International Rating Chess Championships 2009 in Kurunegala from 10th (arrival) to 16th (Departure) December 2009 with a total prize fund of Rs. 125,000//= cash and another equipment Rs 30,000/ worth.
Venue: Will be informed, but in Kurunegala.
Schedule: 10th December - Arrival 11th to 14th December - Round 1 to 8 15th December - Round 9 and Awarding Ceremony 16th December - Departure
Eligibility: Open for all
Prizes: Champion - Trophy, Gold Medal & Rs. 25,000/= 1st Runner up - Silver Medal & Rs. 15,000/= 2nd Runner up - Bronze Medal & Rs. 10,000/= 4th to 10th - Rs. 5,000/= each 11th to 15th - a tournament Chess Board and a set each
Best Girls Champion - Trophy, Gold Medal & Rs. 8,000/= 1st Runner up - Silver Medal, & Rs. 4,000/= 2nd Runner up - Bronze Medal & Rs. 2,500/= 4th & 5th - a tournament Chess Board and a set each
Best Unrated Player Champion - Gold Medal & Rs. 4,000/= 1st Runner up - Silver Medal & a tournament Chess Board and a set. 2nd Runner up - Bronze Medal & a tournament Chess Board and a set.
Best Under 15 Boys & Girls separately Champion - Gold Medal & Rs. 4,000/= 1st Runner up - Silver Medal & & a tournament Chess Board and a set. 2nd Runner up - Bronze Medal & & a tournament Chess Board and a set.
Best Under 12 Boys & Girls separately Champion - Gold Medal & Rs. 4,000/= 1st Runner up - Silver Medal & & a tournament Chess Board and a set. 2nd Runner up - Bronze Medal & & a tournament Chess Board and a set.
Best Under 10 Boys & Girls separately Champion - Gold Medal & Rs. 4,000/= 1st Runner up - Silver Medal & & a tournament Chess Board and a set. 2nd Runner up - Bronze Medal & & a tournament Chess Board and a set.
Best Player - Rating category 1800 to 2000 Champion - Gold Medal & Rs. 4,000/= 1st Runner up - Silver Medal & & a tournament Chess Board and a set. 2nd Runner up - Bronze Medal & & a tournament Chess Board and a set.
Best Player - Rating category less than 1800 Champion - Gold Medal & Rs. 4,000/= 1st Runner up - Silver Medal & & a tournament Chess Board and a set. 2nd Runner up - Bronze Medal & & a tournament Chess Board and a set.
All amounts are in Sri Lankan Rupees.
All participants will be provided with certificates.
Accommodation: All foreign players with an ELO rating will be provided accommodation with three meals. All foreign unrated players will be given accommodation only.
Travel Grant GMs, IMs, WGMs, WIMs, over 2250 ELO will be given a travel grant of Rs. 15,000/=
Entries Dead line for entries is 8th December 2009 to the undersigned. May hand over the entries with relevant fee to the following regional officials

Entry Fee All title players and rating above 2200 are free. All Rated players having a rating less than 2200 and above 2000 : Rs. 500/= All Rated players having a rating less than 2000 and above 1800 : Rs. 1,000/= All Rated players having a rating below 1800 : Rs. 1,500/= Unrated players : Rs. 2,500/= Late fee of Rs. 500/= will be charged for the entries received after 8th of December 2009. This applies even for rated players, whom only are allowed to do registration even via Email
