Ulvi Bajarani Wins 8th Dubai Juniors Print

dubai_jr_09_sml Ulvi Bajarani of Azerbaijan won the 8th Dubai Junior Chess Championship with 8 points in the 9 round tournament held 27 July to 4 August 2009 at the Dubai Chess Club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. CM Sanal Vahap of Turkmenistan and Eiti Bashir of Syria tied for second place with 7.5 points but Vahap won the silver medal on better tie break while Bashir received the bronze. The total prize money of $10,000 (Dh36,729) was given by the sponsoring Mont Blanc.

A total of 136 players from 11 countries including eight titled players participated in this developmental event. See results and standings in chess-results.com.
