The first round of the 6th Mediterranean Championship for Men&Women taking place in Antalya, Turkey with a field consisting of 7 GMs and 10 IMs with a sum of 40 players from  17 different countries (the championship includes GMs  Aroshidze (Georgia), Gelashvili (Georgia) and Parligras (Romenia), Odeev(Turkmenistan) from non-Mediterranean countries for the first time) was played on January 11. Second seed GM Gelashvili and the defending champion IM Doric were among the some rating favorites who had to drop half point in the beginning round of the championship.  Detailed reports are available at the official website of the Mediterranean Chess Association.
