The Blue & Gold Chess Club in collaboration with the Royal College Chess Club has the honor of inviting all Chess players to participate in the inaugural “The Royal Challenge International Chess Tournament” under the auspices of the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka, from January 9 (arrival) to 15, 2009 (departure) at the Royal College Union Office, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The competition will be a 9 rounds Swiss tournament with time control 90 minutes for the whole game + 30 seconds increment for every move played. The champion will receive a Trophy, Gold Medal and Rs. 40,000. The total prize fund is SLR 250,000.

All titled players and those who are rating above 2200 enter the tournament free of charge. GMs, IMs, WGMs, WIMs, will be given a travel grant of Rs. 10,000/= each
