International Tournament "Open ROMGAZ" |

The Polytechnical Institute of Bucharest is the host of Romgaz Open (second edition), the tournament with the hugest amount of prizes (20, 000 Euro) in the Romanian chess' history. At the start there were almost 50 GM and WGM, leader of rating (2692) being Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu (Romania), European Champion in 2005. Organized by WGM Elisabeta Polihroniade, with unique sponsor Romgaz, the tournament has as President the ex-World Champion, Anatoly Karpov. Award Ceremony on 19 September.
