After leading by a full point in round 8, GM Igor Kurnosov secured the first position by drawing GM Matthew Turner. GM Kurnosov finished with 7,5/9, 7 victories and 3 draws. Especially valuable were the victories against GM Kasparov in round 7 and GM Agdestein in round 8.
