The Asian Dragons Invitational is organised by the Chinese Taipei Chess Association at the Taiwan Olympic Training Centre (National Sports Training Centre) from 16-23 August 2008 in Kaohsuing, Taiwan.
There are two sections, each comprising 10 players - the Open (below FIDE 2100) and Under 16 Youth - and participating are the national chess federations of Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, South Korea, and Chinese Taipei.
Kaoshiung County is located in southern Taiwan and covers an area of some 2,792 sq. km. Originally called "Dagou" or Dahgu", until 1920, Kaoshiung is Taiwan's second largest city and the island's biggest centre of industry and a vital transportation hub.
It is a pleasant metropolis of broad avenues and urban greenery, offering visitors a warm climate, sophisticated amenities and a wide choice of attractions in and around its perimeters. Historical sites abound, as do traditional native structures and buildings from the colonial era.
