Two back to back tournaments with a total of $42,000 in cash prizes are scheduled from 18 August 2008 in Iran. The 7th Babol International Open Chess Tournament shall be held 18-24 August 2008 in Babol, north of Iran near the Caspian sea with $25,000 in prizes. Immediately following is the 2nd Orumiyeh International Open scheduled 26 August to 1 September 2008 in Orumiyeh, a city in north west Iran with $17,000 prize fund. Both tournaments are 11 round Swiss system events.
