The First Saturday Budapest tournament series from the beginning has provided many players from all over the world an alternative, and often the only opportunities to achieving GM, IM, WGM, WIM norms as well as getting or improving FIDE-ratings.

The brainchild of the tireless and now almost legendary FIDE International Chess Organiser Nagy Laszlo, these events with a GM an IM and two FIDE-master’s groups are usually started every month except for January and usually attract about 40-60-80 players from 10-15 federations.
