Ba Rai Vung Tau Province together with the Vietnamese Chess Federation and the ASEAN Chess Confederation is pleased to invite international titled and rated chessplayers to the 1st Dragon Capital Vietnam Chess Open to be held in Vung Tau, Vietnam from 26 August to 2 September 2008 .

The 1st Dragon Capital Vietnam Chess Open is also the 6th leg of the ASEAN Grand Prix 2007/08.

1. Organisers

Organized by Ba Ria VungTau Province under the auspices of Vietnam Chess Federation

2. Schedule

26^th August : Arrival of Players; Technical Meeting – 20:00 hour (players not present shall not be paired for Round 1)

27^th August : Round 1 – 0900 hour; Round 2 – 1600 hour
28^th August  : Round 3 – 1600 hour 
29^th August : Round 4 – 0900 hour; Round 5 – 1600 hour
30^th August : Round 6 – 1600 hour
31^st August : Round 7 – 0900 hour; Round 8 – 1600 hour
1^st September : Round 9 – 0900 hour; Closing Ceremony – 1500 hour
2^nd September : Departure of Players 

3. Time Control and Format

Swiss System; FIDE-rated and titled; Rate of play will be 90 minutes for the whole game with 30 seconds increment for every move starting from the first move.

4. Prize Fund : US$ 20,000

For players rated 2100 (women 1900 minimum) and above as on 1^st July 2008

1^st 4000; 2^nd 3000; 3^rd 2000; 4^th 1500; 5^th 1000; 6^th to 10^th 700 each; 11^th to 15^th $400 each; 16^th to 20^th 200 each

Women Top 3: $1,000; $600; $400

5. Entry Fees to be payable by 15^th August 2008;  thereafter penalty of US$ 30 is imposed.

GM, WGM, IM Rating 2500+, WIM Rating 2300+ : Free (but a deposit of US$ 50 is required)

Note: Juniors U-20 as on 1 January 2008 and Veterans above 60 as on 1 January 2008 will have a 25% discount.

The Vietnam Chess Federation reserves the right to accept and reject entries with rating below 2100

6. The Playing Venue & Official Hotel is P & T Hotel, Vung Tau, Vietnam

10 GMs above 2500 - free room and 3 meals on twin-sharing basis

The above is based on first-come-first-serve basis having paid the deposit of US$ 50. The deposit is refundable upon completion of the tournament.

All others - single at US$ 60 inclusive of 3 meals
                   - twin/triple at US$ 40 per person inclusive of 3 meals
