According to the decision of the President of the Republic of Armenia, the President of Armenian Chess Federation Serzh Sargsyan, the "Chess Giants Yerevan-2008" tournament is renamed to the Karen Asrian Memorial.

The Asrian Memorial will become traditional.

Armenia's top Levon Aronian won the tournament.
