Mozambican Chess Federation invites you to the
Zone 4.3 Team Chess Championship-2008
To be organized by Mozambique Chess Federation
“Joaquim Chissano Place”, Maputo, Mozambique,
From 13 Th to 19th July, 2008


INVITATION

Mozambican Chess Federation on behalf of FIDE and African Chess Union cordially invites your Federation to participate in the Zone 4.3 Team Chess Championship-2008 for men to be held at “Joaquim Chissano Place”, in Maputo, Mozambique.

The Venue and Schedule

The Championships will be held from 13Th July (arrival) to 19th July 2008 (departure) in Maputo, Mozambique.

Participation

Each Member Federation in Zone 4.3 is to field one team each in the Men Section. The host federation is entitled to field one extra team. The men team shall comprise 4 players and 1 reserve.

Registration

Each participating Federation shall pay the stipulated entry fee of US$300 per team before arrival. The Registration Forms shall be submitted to Mozambican Chess Federation before 15th June, 2008. Late entries will be accepted after 15th June, 2008 with a penalty of US$ 100 per team payable to the organizing Federation. A copy of the form should also be sent to Mozambican Chess Federation and also respective Zonal Presidents. Entries shall be submitted in the official entry form appended.

Traveling Expenses

According to the FIDE Regulation, traveling expenses shall be borne by the participating Federations.

Airport Transfers

Maputo has an International Airport with flight connection to Johannesburg, South Africa, Luanda, Angola. Each member of the delegation that arrives shall pay US$50 to the organizing Federation towards Airport Transfers.

Board & Lodging

The organizing Federation will be responsible for the living expenses of the participating teams, maximum of 6 persons per delegation, from the arrival date up to the departure date. The full board and lodging (with breakfast, lunch & dinner) costs for additional delegates, extra players and accompanying persons shall be they will be supplied opportunely.

Payments

All payments due to the Organizers on account of registration fee, boarding and lodging expenses and airport transfers must be paid in advance and proof thereof (bank acknowledgment) must be sent along with the registration forms. Last day for receipt will be 15th June, 2008.

Tournament Regulations

The Championship will be played in Swiss System of 7 rounds in the model of the Olympiads, in accordance with the latest FIDE Regulations.

Time Control

90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one.

Tie Break

The position of teams that finish with the same number of game points shall be determined by application of the following tie-breaking procedures in sequence, proceeding from (a) to (b) to (c) to (d) to the extent required:

(a) By the sum of the game scores of all opponents defeated plus one half of the game scores of all the opponents with which a tied result was achieved.

(b) By the sum of the game scores of all the team’s opponents;

(c) by the sum of the game scores of all the team’s opponents, excluding the two opponents who scored the highest number of game points and two opponents who scored the lowest number of game points.

(d) By the number of the match points won;
