 In the decisive Game 6 Garry again played the Sicilian, this time choosing his favorite sharp Najdorf. He played an unusual move in the opening, but equalized easily. After the queens were exchanged, Black had a slight edge. Trying hard for a win, Kasparov sacrificed an exchange for a pawn and the initiative but, strangely, offered a draw soon after the sacrifice. Game 5: Kasparov forces draw by repetition
In his last game with White, Garry Kasparov tried to win but Deep Junior made a novelty on move nine and one move later stunned the world number 1 with an unexpected piece sacrifice. Kasparov was not going to risk over the board analysis and quickly forced a draw by repetition to keep the score level at 2.5:2.5.

Game 4: Kasparov struggles for Draw
In Game 4 Kasparov repeated his favorite Sicilian, using the Hedgehog variation and closing the position. After 2 hours of maneuvering, Deep Junior initiated active Queenside play. After the players reached the first time control of 40 moves, White had a slight advantage. Garry spent twenty minutes thinking and found a clever variation to transpose into a drawn rook endgame. Game 3 - Kasparov loses to Deep Junior
In game 3, the opening followed that of Game 1 - the Slav Defense. Kasparov played his trademark g2-g4 move, sacrificing a pawn. Deep Junior was on the defensive. Game 2 - Junior Escapes with a Draw
Deep Junior had White and played 1.e4. In response, Kasparov essayed the Sicilian defense, Paulsen System instead of his usual Najdorf. After the opening, Junior played much better than in Game 1. The crucial point came when Kasparov sacrificed the exchange and seized the initiative. But Garry later said he missed his chance with a hasty check (25...Qa1+?!) and the game ended in a fighting draw. Kasparov leads the match 1.5-0.5.

Game 1 - Kasparov Beats Deep Junior
Kasparov opened the first game with 1.d4. The computer Deep Junior opted for the Slav Defense. Kasparov played sharply and managed to get an advantage from the opening. Black had to sacrifie the exchange for Kasparov`s knight on d6. Kasparov proved unstoppable and scored his first victory on move 27. During the press-conference Kasparov said that 13...b5? was probably the decisive mistake.
