Multiple World Champion Anatoly Karpov shall play an 8-game rapid chess match against current European Champion Bartlomiej Macieja. The match will be played in Warsaw on 7-10th April 2003 in the Congress Hall of the Marriott Hotel. Players will play eight rounds – two rounds per day – changing colours after each round. Before the first round the initial colour assignment will be drawn. Timing: 25 minutes + 5 seconds after each move. The first round each day starts at 5.00 p.m., the second one – 30 minutes after finishing the first. The player with higher score wins the match. In case of a 4:4 result match will end with a draw and no winner will be announced. Grandmasters Bartosz Socko, Jacek Gdanski and Robert Kuczynski will choose the most beauty game of the match and 1000USD will be given to the winner of it from Computer Land S.A.
