All India Chess Federation very cordially invites FIDE Zones 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 & 3.4 Federations to participate in the Asian Chess Championship for Women to be held in Calicut, India from 16th to 25th August 2003.
1.RULES & REGULATIONS
The Championship will be played in accordance with the following rules and regulations approved by FIDE Continental President for Asia, Mr. Khalifa Mohammad Al-Hitmi.
The Championship shall qualify the top ten players to the FIDE World Championship.
2.ELIGIBILITY & PARTICIPATION
2.1 The Championship is open to all women players FIDE rated 2100 and above and who are registered with the Federations from Zones 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4
2.2 Each Federation from Zones 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 shall be represented by one player.
2.3 In addition, each Federation shall be entitled to send extra players FIDE rated 2100 and above. Such extra entries will be accepted provided they have paid the prescribed entry fee of CHF 200 in advance to the host Federation namely All India Chess Federation. Such players will be responsible for the payment of their board & lodging expenses as well.
3. ENTRY FEE
Upon confirmation of entry, each player except the defending champion shall pay to AICF on arrival the stipulated entry fee of CHF 200 on account of the participants as outlined in the FIDE Financial Regulations.
4. ACCOMMODATION
The official player from each National Federation will be provided with free board & lodging. Participants will be accommodated in twin-shared bedrooms (2 people per room). Players rated 2300 and above will also be eligible for free board and lodging
Each additional participant and each accompanying person should pay US $ 50 per day for sharing a double room plus three meals a day or US $ 80 per day for a single room plus three meals a day.
5. PLAYING CONDITIONS
The tournament shall be conducted as a Swiss System competition of 9 rounds and will be played according to FIDE regulations. The time control is 90 minutes for each player for the entire game with 30 seconds increment per move from move one. The game shall be played with DGT clocks.
6. CHIEF ARBITER AND HIS ASSISTANTS
The Chief Arbiter, his Deputy and Assistants will be appointed in consultation with the FIDE Continental President for Asia, Mr. Khalifa Mohammad Al-Hitmi.
The protest fee will be US $ 100 for each protest refundable if the protest is upheld.
7. APPEALS COMMITTEE
An Appeals Committee shall be constituted before the beginning of the tournament as stipulated in the FIDE regulations.
8. TIE BREAK
If at the end of the tournament two or more players are tied, the tie shall be broken by the following tiebreak system:
After eliminating, the unrated or lowest rated opponent, where the players involved have all played only against rated opponents, find the sum of opponent ratings. The highest total wins. If still tied, eliminate the next lowest rated opponent(s) until a decision is possible. If the tie remains unbroken, decide by lot.
If after eliminating one unrated opponent, the players involved have not all played only against rated opponents, the sum of progressive scores. The highest total wins. If still tied, deduct the first round score, and if necessary the second round and so on. If the tie remains unbroken, decide by lot.

10. PRIZES
The first three players will be awarded Medals and Trophies.
11. VISAS
Entry visa will be issued by the Indian Diplomatic Missions in the respective countries. Participants from countries which do not have Indian Diplomatic Missions may contact All India Chess Federation for the grant of Visa at least 45 days in advance
According to the FIDE Regulations, travelling expenses shall be borne by the participating Federations. Moreover each participant will also have to pay UD $ 30 towards airport transfers on arrival.

Entries shall be closed on 16th June 2003. Late entries will be accepted till 23th June 2003 with a late fee of US $ 100.
14. FLIGHT DETAILS
Calicut (Calicut Airport, Karipur) is directly connected by air from Mumbai, Chennai, Trivandrum and Nedumbassery (Kochi). Flight details of International & Domestic flights to Calicut are attached.
